On February 16, 2016 in Brussels in the framework of the visit of the delegation of the Кyrgyz Republic to Belgium, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic Erlan Abdyldaev  met with Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Tadjikistan Sirodjidin Aslov. During the meeting the parties discussed bilateral cooperation, including in the field of economy, energy and border issues.

From 9 to 11 of February this year Foreign Minister E.Abdyldaev paid an official visit to the Republic of Tajikistan. On February 9, Minister E.Abdyldaev held a working meeting with the Assistant of President on national security issues Sh.Hayrulloev and Assistant of President on Foreign Relations E.Rahmatullozoda. During the meetings, the sides discussed issues of bilateral relations, regional security, joint measures against drug trafficking, as well as fighting against religious extremism.
On February 10 this year Foreign Minister E.Abdyldaev held talks with Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Tajikistan S.Aslov. During the talks, the two sides discussed a wide range of issues related to political and economic cooperation, issues of delimitation and demarcation of the Kyrgyz-Tajik state border and cooperation between the two countries in water energy sector, cultural and humanitarian spheres.
During the official visit, Minister E.Abdyldaev was received  by President of the Republic of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon.

July 17, 2014 an official visit of Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Tajikistan S.M.Aslov took place in Bishkek.
In the framework of the visit Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Tajikistan S.Aslov was received by President of the Kyrgyz Republic A.Atambaev and also bilateral meeting with Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic E.Abdyldaev took place.
Within the negotiations actual subjects about the all spectrum of the Kyrgyz-Tajik bilateral relations were discussed.
Current situation in the border regions of the two states was emphasized as well. Also the issues about construction works of roads and bridges were touched upon.
In the results of negotiations, Heads of the two Foreign Offices expressed their confidence that the visit will boost development of mutually advantageous cooperation between the Kyrgyz Republic and the Republic of Tajikistan.

On January 15, 2014 a briefing for the diplomatic corps and representatives of international organizations accredited in the Kyrgyz Republic was held at the Diplomatic Academy of Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic
On January 15, 2014 a briefing for the diplomatic corps and representatives of international organizations accredited in the Kyrgyz Republic was held at the Diplomatic Academy of Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic.
During the briefing representatives of MFA and State Border Service of the Kyrgyz Republic briefed participants of the event on current situation in the border areas of Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan as well as position of the Kyrgyz side on the incident between military personnel of the two countries.
Also, on January 15, 2014, a similar briefing was held bythe Official Representative of Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic in the south of the Kyrgyz Republicfor foreign consular representativesand representatives of international organizations accredited in the south of the Kyrgyz Republic.

The Kyrgyz Ambassador to Tajikistan recalled to Bishkek for consultations
In order to hold consultations in relation to the firearm incident in Batken region of the Kyrgyz Republic near the Kyrgyz-Tajikstate border line, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Kyrgyz Republic to the Republic of Tajikistan U.Saralaev was recalled on January 14, 2014 to Bishkek.

Ambassador of Kyrgyzstan to Tajikistan Mr. U.Saralaev met with Special Representative of the UN Secretary General, Head of Regional Centre for Preventive Diplomacy for Central Asia Mr. Miroslav Jenča
On January 10, 2014 Ambassador of Kyrgyzstan to Tajikistan Mr. U.Saralaev met with Special Representative of the UN Secretary General, Head of Regional Centre for Preventive Diplomacy for Central Asia Mr. Miroslav Jenča.
During the said meeting they discussed issues on implementation of regional projects CASA-1000, railroad "Tajikistan-Afghanistan-Turkmenistan" and preparation for construction of railroad "China-Kyrgyzstan-Tajikistan-Afghanistan-Iran", as well as issues on trade and economic, border, water and energy cooperation.
In the result of the meeting, they expressed confidence in further fruitful cooperation on preventive measures on cross-border issues and conflicts.

On January 11, 2014 the planned construction of the bypass road Kok-Tash–Ak-Sai–Tamdyk in Ak-Sai village of Batken region of the Kyrgyz Republic connecting the border Kyrgyz villages was underway.
